Arzak is rumoured to be opening a second restaurant in London. The San Sebastian restaurant, which is run by the father and daughter team of Juan Mari & Elena is currently at number eight on the world’s top 50 restaurants list.
Arzak are heavily rumoured to replace the Nahm restaurant, which is closing on December 15. Head chef David Thompson will be leaving his London base to focus on his second Nahm restaurant in Bangkok. The Bangkok restaurant debuted at number 50 this year in the world’s top 50 restaurants list.
London’s Nahm did hold a Michelin star thanks to Thompsons exceptional Thai food but rising costs and lack of good Asian produce had become a growing concern for the Australian chef. The Michelin star was subsequently lost in 2011.
