Last week the well renowned US title the Wall Street Journal named Brazilian chef Alex Atala, of restaurant D.O.M (pictured), the world’s best chef. And rightly so, we say.
Since 2006, when D.O.M was ranked 50th in The World’s 50 Best Restaurant list sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna, the restaurant has climbed 46 places under Atala’s helm, to fourth place. A spectacular accomplishment for any chef, I’m sure you will agree.
Since his Wall Street Journal accolade, epicureans worldwide have also been left wondering whether the South American chef will dethrone René Redzepi from the top of The World's 50 Best Restaurants list 2013, which is being released in two months time.
