Kaspar’s Seafood Bar and Grill, The Savoy, London

Opening today, 2 May, Kaspar’s Seafood Bar and Grill is The Savoy’s newest addition, offering diners an informal yet luxury dining experience.

Located in the heart of London with panoramic views of the River Thames and London landmarks, Kaspar’s Seafood Bar and Grill boasts a new design that evokes The Savoy's rich and glamorous past; think 1920’s, 1930’s,  an oyster shell fish bar, Murano glass columns, Brass railings, art deco mirrors and a silver leafed ceiling.

With the 20’s very much the era of the moment, Kaspar’s Seafood Bar and Grill is sure to offer guests a glimmer of the glamour of the past, with a refreshing, modern twist.

Headed up by chef James Pare, the menu is divided into starters; a selection from the cured and smoked fish bar; main courses, grills, salads; and desserts. Starters include smoked brown shrimp & eel cocktail (£14), celery and Pecorino soup (£7) and roasted ox tail consommé (£9), while main dishes include smoked salmon sausage, apple sauerkraut and horseradish sauce (£18), Dover sole with brown butter caper sauce (£34) and lobster club sandwich with chips (£25). Rainer Becker’s latest concept

Oblix, The Shard, London

Ten years since he brought his modern Japanese cuisine to London through restaurants Zuma and Roka, Chef Rainer Becker is opening his newest concept, Oblix, located at The Shard - Europe’s tallest building – in London, early this May.

Moving away from Japanese cuisine for the first time in over a decade, chef Becker references a New York grill as the backdrop for the menu, which will offer diners a broad selection of dishes with, Becker explains, ‘a mixture of grilled and classics’ at its core.

In addition to the a la carte lunch and dinner menu, a New York style delicatessen will also offer those seeking a sophisticated lunch option, a selection of appetisers at lunchtime.

Heading up the 100-seat restaurant and 100-seat bar is chef Fabien Beaufour, who began working in a professional kitchen at the age of 14 in France.   Having worked in The French Laundry and Eleven Madison Park, those eager to try Oblix can rest assured that chef Beaufour will deliver a culinary expertise that mirrors Michelin-star chef Becker’s, who is always noted for his quality, precision, and consistency.

And if the food at Oblix isn’t enough, then fashion will win you over, with the Front of House team’s uniforms, designed working closely with British fashion house Ted Baker.

Comfortable cuisine

Claude’s Kitchen, Parson’s Green, London

Founder of the award-winning street food company, Green Goat Food and ex-Petersham Nurseries and Club Gascon chef Claude Compton has just opened his first restaurant, Claude’s Kitchen, in Parsons Green, London. Having worked with many credible names in the restaurant industry - Skye Gyngell and Greg Malouf at Petersham Nurseries Café, Pascal Aussignac  at multi-award winning flagship restaurant, Club Gascon - chef Claude Compton turned to a solo chef career opening Green Goat Food, a street-food van. Within three months Green Goat Food was voted as one of the top three street food vans in the UK and gained several celebrity followers, including Lorraine Pascale.

Rather than haute-cuisine, Claude’s Kitchen offers diners comfortable dining with a menu which encourages guests to try under-used cuts of meat, choose sustainable fish (sent up from Cornish fishing boats the previous day) and learn about lesser-loved British ingredients.
