Mario Batali counts a whopping 24 restaurants, numerous cookbooks and television shows and the 50,000-square-foot Eataly marketplace among his ever-expanding Italian-inspired culinary empire. Born in Seattle, Mario is a New York based restaurateur, cookbook author and television personality who spent a considerable amount of his culinary education in the sleepy village of Borgo Capanne in Northern Italy, learing the skills which have enabled him to become one of the best-known masters of Italian cuisine, stateside.
Among his many accolades, Mario was awarded the James Beard Foundation's Best Chef: New York City prize; in 2005 and Outstanding Chef of the Year in 2008, whicle the Michelin Guide NYC 2014 awarded his New York City based restaurants, Del Posto and Babbo each with a Michelin star.
Mario is also the author of nine cookbooks including the James Beard award-winning, Molto Italiano: 327 Simple Italian Recipes (2005); New York Times Bestseller Mario Batali Italian Grill (2007); and Molto Batali: Simple Family Meals form My Home to Yours (2011).
