Cocktails in the sky

This weekend is the time to get involved with one of the capital’s biggest attractions, the Coca-Cola London Eye experience, as a series of events launch from tomorrow until Sunday. In partnership with The Cocktail Trading Co., the limited experiences include a 60-minute capsule ride on the London Eye accompanied by a series of specially crafted Valentine’s Day themed cocktails, as guests take in the 360-degree views of the city.

The ‘Only Have Eyes for You’ experience includes two cocktails, the ‘Love Potion No.9’, featuring gin, raspberry liquor, lavender, vanilla and citrus. Guests then choose between the rhubarb liquor, Aperol, prosecco, apricot and sandalwood-based ‘Poetry in Motion’ or ‘Love is All Around’, featuring dark rum, fig and demerara fizz. Our tip is to book at sunset for the most romantic views across the city. £45 per person.

Spa date

Head to one of our favourite hotels, the Rosewood London, for the Couples Classic experience within their very luxurious surroundings of the hotel’s SENSES spa. The experience includes a one-hour full body massage and one-hour facial each, all while experiencing the treatments together. Afterwards, stop by to try Amandine Chaignot’s six-course tasting menu in the Mirror Room, featuring traditional and modern Parisian dishes such as chicken and Mushroom vol-au-vent and pink champagne sorbet. The two-hour spa experience is £500/ six-course menu, including rosé champagne and canapés on arrival and wines paired with each course is £105.

Frenchie Covent Garden

Gregory Marchand brings his bistro-chic dining from Paris to London this month with the launch of Frenchie Covent Garden. And if Frenchie’s Parisian restaurant is anything to go by, tables won’t be easy to secure, so our advice is to grab one now, before the hype really builds up.

Marchand is no stranger to London, having spent time working at the Savoy, Mandarin Oriental and Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen, before finding his niche in Paris with the launch of Frenchie in 2012. Complementing the seasonal menu, will be selected wines and seasonal cocktails. Expect unique dishes such as the smoked char, turnip, rhubarb and the guinea fowl and spinach and the roasted and smoked cauliflower. Cocktail highlights include the ‘Once Upon a Time No.2’ composed of vodka, Mirabelle, sage and smoked and dehydrated baby pear, featuring the same modern cooking techniques applied to the dish.
