Heston Blumenthal is set to become Gordon Ramsay’s neighbour later next year in June 2014, and that doesn't mean a mansion near Gordon’s Chelsea-based abode. It means at London’s international transport hub,  Heathrow airport, where the multi-award winning chef will launch a new restaurant at Terminal 2 : The Queen’s Terminal, not far from Gordon’s restaurant Plane Food, located in Terminal 5.

The concept and menu is still being developed, but what we can tell you is that the new restaurant is slated to open in June 2014 when Heathrow’s Terminal 2 begins operations. In true Heston style, the menu will feature nostalgic dishes, of all things British, taking inspiration from Heston’s “In Search of Perfection” TV series which hones in on Britain’s favourite meals.

Clearly understanding what makes the perfect menu for the imminent traveller, Heston says: "This is an incredible project. There are so many different elements to consider when people are travelling. We want to deliver a broad spectrum of easy to enjoy, familiar dishes from fish and chips to pizza. When we made the ‘In Search of Perfection’ series we spent hours researching the temperature of a pizza oven or the crunch of batter; it’s this inspiration that is behind the menu at Heathrow – with some truly British eccentricity thrown in for good measure."

Heston’s arrival at Heathrow airport could not have come at a better time, with the announcement that Terminal 2 will be reopening with an entirely new face lift since its closure in 2009. The new terminal will have 67 outlets in total including shops, bars and restaurants, including Heston’s as of yet unnamed dining room.
