Fine-dining and football, two words/phrases you certainly wouldn’t expect to see sidling each other in the same sentence, let alone on a sign hanging above a sparkly new luxury London-based restaurant. Until now…

Former Manchester United legends Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville have apparently teamed up to launch their own range of luxury hotels and cafes, set to open in both London, Manchester and a few other popular football cities such as Newcastle and Birmingham.

One of the first, Café Football, is slated to open on The Street, Westfield, in London’s Stratford later in December this year. Housing 140 seats and an unwavering nod towards both co-founder's favourite pastime, guests will either laud or lament the restaurant’s football themed décor and match-inspired menu, crafted to perfection by Michelin star chef Michael Wignall.

Given Michael’s reputation as one of Britain’s most influential chefs (he currently heads up the kitchen at Surrey’s much-celebrated two Michelin star dining room Michael Wignall at The Latymer), any of our former doubts of the collaboration have (for now) been banished. Although we’re not sure how any one could turn a ‘Pot Noodle’ – one of the menu's signature dishes – into a fine-dining feast. I guess we’ll just have to wait for the restaurant to ‘kick off’ to find out…
